I ever thought to get it from CO.CC for free, just like what I did for my other site. But it became the reason why I tried to get a registered one.

When I tried to register for free, the domain which I looked for was not free at all. I need to pay for it. Also when I searched for dot com (.com) or dot net (.net), this domain is already being registered by someone, although I still could buy it back.

Finally I looked for a dot ID (.ID) domain. Thanks to Mas Imam with an interested info how to get a dot ID (.ID). For sure, it’s really – really inspiring and encouraging me.

Honestly, I never thought it was so easy and simple. It’s purely an internet and electronic communication. Less than 3 (three) hours since registration and payment, an email was received from PANDI (Pengelola Nama Domain Internet Indonesia) – the Indonesian Domain Registration Authority, which is very nice in my eyes,

“Congratulation, your domain is approved and active now. You may start …”

And it doesn’t cost me a lot as a beginner. With IDR 25,000 (twenty five thousand) or around US $ 2.5, and a valid identity card, we could get a registered personal domain “.web.id”. Even .co.cc is expensive that it, and .com or .net as well.

Last, I do encourage and support you starting to consider to apply for .ID domain.

But, i found another interesting tool on Alexa, The Wayback Machine which very useful to trace your domain historical in the past. As you know, i own this domain – pandu.web.id recently, which means somebody owned it in the past.
By using the Wayback Machine, I could trace it back starting from January 1996 up to Jun 2008.

So now, we could see the result. All info is from 2007.

March 2007 – this domain as a free classified ads site (situs iklan baris gratis).
July to October 2007 as e-commerce site, Pandu Handbags – where we offer fashion handbags (That’s what i got from Technorati as well).
Last Dec 2007 – PANDI (Pengelola Nama Domain Internet Indonesia) – the Indonesian Domain Registration Authority informed this domain validity was expired, therefore it’s available for new registration.
And that’s where the journey began.
